Te Anau mountain runner off to world champs

Te Anau athlete Dwight Grieve has been selected in the New Zealand moutain running team to contest the world championships later this year.

The Fiordland club member has been named in an eight-strong team for the world event, to be held in Canillo, Andorra on September 16.

The team was selected by Athletics New Zealand based on performances at the New Zealand mountain running championships held in Central Otago in March.

The four senior men and four senior women will be led by 2018 national champions Niam MacDonald and Sabrina Grogan.

Senior men: Niam MacDonald (Wellington Scottish), Harry Burnard (Wellington Scottish), Dwight Grieve (Fiordland), Matthew Scott (Christchurch Avon).

Senior women: Sabrina Grogan (University of Canterbury), Nancy Jiang (Hamilton City Hawks), Sarah Douglas (Christchurch Avon), Sophie Smith (Athletics Nelson).
