NZ Junior Open squash results - day one

The first round of play all went according to plan, however during the second round both the boys and girls 12th seeds caused upsets taking out the fifth seeds.

Angus MacDonald of Waikato took out Southland’s Mitchell Kempton in 3 sets while Wellington’s Charlotte Galloway beat Northlander Zoe Dykzeul. The boys 4th seeded Sean Dykes also dropped out after a tight 5-set battle with Willz Donnelly. The final match of the night was a very tense 5 setter between 7th seed Leo Fatialofa and Australian 10th seed Ben Ratcliff with Ratcliff fending off a spirited comeback attempt by Fatialofa to take the win.

In the other Divisions, the 5th seeded Mikarore Joyce beat the second seed Regan Miller in Div 1, while 6th seeds were also knocked out.

Tomorrow sees Quarterfinals for the Girls Open Draw at 12.10pm
