Dunedin played host to a historic moment in Southland rugby history over the weekend as Cassie Watt, a celebrated Southland referee, marked her Test Refereeing debut as an Assistant Referee in a thrilling match between England and Canada.

Cassie Watt's journey into Test Refereeing is a remarkable testament to her passion and commitment to rugby. While maintaining her role as a dedicated teacher at Myross Bush school, she has also served as the referee manager at Rugby Southland, where her contributions have played a pivotal role in nurturing the next generation of rugby officials and promoting the growth of the sport at the grassroots level.

This momentous debut follows Cassie's role as a professional referee in Farah Palmer Cup and Assistant Referee for Super Rugby Aupiki.
