Southern Steel ready for preseason games

Southern Steel ready for preseason games

Testing the mettle of combinations in the heat of battle will be a key focus for the Ascot Park Hotel Southern Steel in its pre-season encounters next week.

Steel hosts the Trident Homes Tactix in Queenstown on Monday, followed by the Te Wānanga o Raukawa Pulse in Dunedin on Thursday.

While COVID restrictions has limited the sold out crowds to just 100 spectators, fans can watch the action unfold by following the live stream on Steel’s Facebook page.

Steel chief executive Lana Winders said the franchise was closely monitoring any developments with COVID-19 in the south.

“We appreciate this is a fluid situation and we have the processes in place to pivot if we need to,” she said.

“With the opening games of the ANZ Premiership now just over a month away, we are working hard to ensure our players get some vital match play while respecting the need to create safe environment for everyone.”
