Target shooter earns award
Target shooting stalwart Bob Dunstan was awarded with a Merit Certificate at Target Shooting Southland’s annual prize giving on Saturday.
Dunstan, who started shooting in 1963 at age 27, had his first competition shoot in 1965, where he shot a 57 using a model 12 at the Edendale hall.
He has competed every year since until his retirement from competitive shooting last year, and has been a member of both Southern and Southland teams throughout his long career.
Dunstan has held the office of Southern President and has attended many Southland meetings as Southern Delegate to Southland.
Dunstan has been Southern Secretary and is still the Secretary of Wyndham Club, a role he's held since 1974.
He is still active at the club and over the years has coached many juniors, some of whom have gone on to represent Southland, South Island and New Zealand.
With over 50 years of dedication and service to target shooting in Southland a merit award was well deserved.
