Top results for Southland teams at marching champs

Outstanding results were achieved by Southland teams at the Marching NZ Championships held in Christchurch over the weekend.

A total of 55 teams from around the country were putting their best foot forward and trying for top honours.

There are two phases the teams can do; Technical Drill is precision in timing and spacing in movements and the execution and correctness of the drills and plan.

The Display phase is a routine that is performed to the teams own choice of music. This is like a freestyle form of marching and where teams can show their talents.

Southland was well represented in 3 grades, U12, U16 & Masters. There were 3 Southland teams in the U12 grade alone where there was a total of 22 teams in this very tough grade.

Southern Stars U12 earned Southland’s highest result with being crowned Marching NZ 3rd overall U12 Champion Team.
